Scooter Parts You Ought to be Familiar with
Most of the readers are perhaps already aware of
the scooter parts, but for the beginners here is a list of the basic parts of a
freestyle two wheeler.
Decks-
Decks are the heaviest and the largest part of the scooters. It is more of a
frame or a platform upon which the entire two wheeler is designed. Decks are
always made of aluminum and can even be constructed from the stock pieces.
Bars- Bars
serves as the primary connection or contact point between the bike and therider. Therefore getting the correct feel and fit is essential as even the
slightest of mistakes can prove deadly. Bars are generally made of aluminum and
steel but for the beginners as well as the relatively inexperienced riders, steel
is always a better choice as aluminum being lighter in weight, makes the bars
fragile which in turn makes it occasionally difficult to control the bike.
Grips-
Grips too serves as contact points between the bike and the rider. Grips are
available in several types and colors, the commonest being ODI longneck grips
and Animal Edwin grips.
Clamp-
Clamp connects the bars to the forks of the two wheeler to make it rotate
freely without slipping apart from one another.
Headset-
The headsets are more or less a modular unit comprising of top cap, cups,
bearings and bearing cups that allows smooth fork rotation within the bike head
tube.
Brakes-
They helps in bringing the moving bike to a sudden stop in cases of emergency.
Fork- The
fork provides support to the front wheels and extends through the bike head
tubes to the bars. At the bars, forks are combined with a clamp together.
Wheels,
axles, spacers and bearings are some of the other key parts of scooters.
